Some of our librarians have been requesting to see a list of the assets in our guides. As a system admin I can look at the list of assets, but I just wondered if there was any way for our other librarians who are not admins to see a list of the assets? Or is there some way to export the list to a spreadsheet that I could email to our librarians as they need it?
Hi Aimee -
Thanks for your note - great question! I'm going to run this past our development team to determine what the best solution for this might be. Before I do, could you tell me a little more about how you see librarians using this feature? In particular, do you think that the rest of the librarians on staff want to see a list of *all* of the assets in your site, or a list of only their assets, and what do you think they'd use it for?
Thanks! :)

I think it's going to vary. In this particular instance they're looking to see if/where particular resources in their subject specialty have been linked in our system, so in this case they would need to see all of the assets. Since this particular project isn't an every day occurrence that was why I came up with question/idea of an export to spreadsheet function because something like that would be easy enough for me to email out to everyone, even if I had to do it one letter at a time. I have already tried using copy and paste, but the format of that page doesn't even transfer well.
In everyday use it would be more likely that they would just need to see the assets in their guides, however that would depend on a few factors as well. Would it include guides on which they are editors? Would it include assets that they have *linked* from other librarians guides or only from their own (this one is partially based on the fact that we had created our own A-Z database list before the feature was available)? I regularly use the List/Manage Assets feature to determine if/where I've used a particular resource in my own guides. I've found it much more useful than trying to comb through some of my more intricate guides looking for a particular resource.
I think in an ideal world this feature would allow you to toggle back and forth between *all* and *mine*, like the link checker.
This is a feature our librarians would get a lot of good use out of, so let me know if you have any more questions when you take it to your development team.
